Light Up The Sky Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) July 2010 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 I've been looking for somewhere to rest my head, no I don't mean my bed, I mean in your arms again or someone like you instead No, I mean exactly you, lets dig 1000 feet I've thought it through and this old life is parachuting One more time on the merry go-around Count me on till next July Put your arms around me baby, light up the sky One more time on the merry go-around Searchlights in paradise Put your arms around me baby, light up the sky Extra ordinary flashing lights and compliments and small surprises line the rooftops of a hometown summer night One to One I closed my eyes and cast my hand into the skies and threw a satellite for you.... I outlived the king, and I did crown his pretty queen, and I've got dozens if not thousands of these mismatched pairs of jeans and I've got dreams, and I've got melodies that tug at your heartstrings and leave you helpless...

She Calls My Name (Forever) Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Aug 2009 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 And it goes to show What I’ve always known That the song remains the feed the lucky and cleanse the soul I have seen the best I have seasoned the pain Even if I am worlds away she reaches and calls my name I have been to be I have lived to lead When I spin the line that speaks forever It comes to be It comes to be When I’m on the road She hears me through the noise, though I am far from home and we’re both alone I have seen the best I have seasoned the pain Even if I am worlds away she reaches and calls my name and calls my name Forever You can hear it once and its never enough and it feels like the very first breath you take after you give up

Good Fortune 03:23
Good Fortune Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Aug 2008 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 Over and over the wind blows her fortune on me Stirring, I turn it around back to my family Karma be karma, she lavishes love on the just I do what I must Pieces of yesterday (that) strengthen and fortify me sometimes familiar and sometimes remain mystery time over eons the wind turns your fortunes to dust I do what I must It falls, its falling on me Time passes by, we go flashing on by through the Dust Drips in a memory, sinking down into the crust Karma be karma, she lovingly holds back the tide I must decide it falls, its falling on me the falls, its falling is me

The Righter 02:55
The Righter Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) March 2013 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 Today is fine tomorrow we can right the wrongs we'll only be together one more day maybe we can find a way to say so long in a way that will keep us tied in a way like yesterday so we never leave this behind Oh Lord, I'm trippin' on my old goodbyes Today is fine tomorrow we can right the wrongs maybe we can find a way to say so long Today is ours and even if I fade away like if we only get this one more day don't let your face grow cold Oh Lord, I'm trippin' on my old goodbyes Somedays I need little bit more time to let it rest I don't know that I could even bear to grow older if the last time that I saw your face, it grew colder hello is fine goodbye seems to stick around like a bittersweet memory and a rush to the ground

the Medicine Man Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) March 2009 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 Jumped off the bus in New Mexico I met a medicine man on the side of the road he said, Son, you look like you’re a long way from home I can tell from just one look at your eyes that you despise all the lies of the corporate crisis in America, and you’re looking for the payload He said, Take care not to scuff your collar Take this bag of bones and sell it for $30 then head on home to buy the one you love some flowers This is a gift to a man in need And I won’t take trade cuz I got no greed just a passing talent for recognizing distress I said ok, but I was 4 days late cuz I lived 2,000 miles away and now I sit here wondering if I made the right choice Did I make the right choice? Downtown checkin out the bustling scene I saw a sign saying Silence in a neon green and I could not help myself, I wandered over and tore it down Now with Silence down, the whole town rose up and threw petals at the feet of the wonderful cup that unleashed them from the dirty bonds of self-doubt I said this is a gift to a town in need And I won’t take trade cuz I got no greed just a passing talent for recognizing unrest Was it for the best? This is for the rest [ Jam ] Was it for the best? I was just possessed

Redemption 03:08
Redemption Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Dec 2009 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 When I kick out to face the morning There’s a smile and a pinch of rain And a fog that hangs low to the ground below my intentions At the heart of the mystery is the pleasure of witnessing history Redemption Put my ear to the tracks, and safe to say There’s a cold out here today But the meantime has me focused on the horizon On the edge of perilous destruction is a razor-sharp salvation Redemption Around the bend a lost surprise you never thought you’d see again Redemption

Are We Waiting on the World to Save Me Now? Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) April 2011 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 Are we waiting on the world to save me now? And you will know me by my passive, cockeyed stare All this is known, and you are known to me And you will know me by my adolescent cheek sympathies grind under my feet Are we waiting on the world to save me now? This too shall pass The burn, the crash I am not the best, but I will last And this too shall pass Are we waiting on the world to save me now? And you will know me by my sideways glitter smile Like time will tell if you deserve the (true) shine We are directed and dissected like a Spike Lee Joint you will never know what is on my mind Are we waiting on the world to save me now?

Lover Song Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Feb 2006 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 No need to mention how you brighten my day When I’m with you my worries, melting away I finally decide to end this affair, with holding back I found the space in your air Connected by the instant touch of my hand Running my fingers through your hair Electrified, I simply look in your eyes And I don’t care…I don’t care No need to mention how you brighten my day Don’t need to tell you how to love me your way Wrote you a message on the tablecloth When I’m with you I don’t need anything, I don’t need anything at all And I feel, and I feel Could it make my body heal? My spirits lift up at the sound of your voice You need not stop for anything Distracted from my purpose, making a choice, to which I let the freedom ring To which I let the freedom ring

This Must Be Artichoke Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) July 2011 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 Down on Hawthorne Boulevard A few blocks from the river sells a man all the instruments of the names we love and the backgate stage, is the heart of the music, every Friday night the Thursday crowd makes way... They heard me singing and they told me to stop. Till I got here. On the southeast side of town A house home to the Doverlaff In a garden called The Tiki Lounge a singer came to share One in twenty, one in fifty, no, a million men could fit and all of history This must be Artichoke

Its Alright, But It's Not My Mind Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Dec 2009 ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 When I sink below the ground where I was born, the refuge is a dream And its alright…but its not my mind A day adrift, a day delayed, I interrupt the stream Its alright, but its not my mind Its alright, but its not my time I temporarily believe the shift will wait for me Its alright, but its not my mind A leisurely dependence on a likely mystery Its alright, but its not my mind Its time, to take what’s mine Retreating when I need direction Living alone takes more devotion I swing beneath the fireplace in memories of old escapes And its alright, but its not my mind I deign to breathe another day, despite the failure of yesterday To clean, and become light Believe and purify The city I have lived within, I have never surrendered to the wind and its true, I lived for you I take a dip in the river But the journey ends at my shore Its alright, but its not my mind

Are We Waiting On the World to Save Me Now? Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) ? Album: Light Up The Sky ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 I keep my head rushed and my feet upon the sand I trip a bit and try to do the best I can I’ve seen a shaking in the road and I’m carrying a load but you make me want to be a better man Yes, you make me want to be a better man Look at me riding the wind Taking all the time I can until the sunrise is inside of me Carry me upwards, letting it take me away Look and see how it begins Taking all the time I can until the sunrise is inside of me Carry me upwards, letting it take me away And I fall… I count my fingers and my toes when I’m in despair I keep a journal of the length of my hair I feel the little things my baby gives to me throughout the years is the symbol of the better things to bear Yes, we’re gonna bring the better things to bear Look at me riding the wind Taking all the time I can until the sunrise is inside of me Carry me upwards, letting it take me away Look and see how it begins Taking all the time I can until the sunrise is inside of me Carry me upwards, letting it take me away And I fall… The confusion that had took me turned and ran I put my finger up and tested for the wind I took a double-take at the double-time and I‘m ready to begin I take my lovin’ and I shake it in a can because you make me want to be a better man Look at me riding the wind Taking all the time I can until the sunrise is inside of me Carry me upwards, letting it take me away Look and see how it begins Taking all the time I can until the sunrise is inside of me Carry me upwards, letting it take me away And I Rise…

about

This album was the follow-up to 2008's *Searchlights In Mexico*, which was my debut solo album. It was labored over for a couple years, across multiple sessions and studios. The working title was "Freedom & Free" (trivia bit).
Through the time period, I was playing with Searchlights, Huge Sally, The Baron Ward, Idiot Science, and Disorderly Conduct.
There were formal sessions with the band Searchlights (Dusty Beats and Joe Bass!) and main producer Ryan Ferris, and informal sessions with just Ryan and I to build the bulk of the record.
I recorded four of the tracks in my home studio, mixing those down myself with advice/feedback from friends.
One of those home studio tracks I finished and mixed together with Dan Rhiger at Medicine Whistle Studios in SE Portland.
Cameron Jack and I recorded a track at Zooey Studios in Milwaukie OR.
There were 4 B-sides left over by the end of it all.
By April 2020, all physical copies are sold out, so this one is download only :)
