These are self-mastered versions of mixes from The Glyndon Sessions, which took place at Glyndon's Hillsboro, Oregon studio from March 2019 through September 2020. The final mastered album will be released when the project is deemed complete.
"...I let it go on ringin in silence, the only sound was my small mini fridge, but when a message popped up, I took a listen, woke up, and hit 90 across the Ross Island Bridge..."
"...two cousins growing up perspective, one jumps, the other reflexes..."
about
The Glyndon Sessions began in early 2019, after I had been touring in support of Habits for a solid six months without distraction...I wanted to give that album its fair attention before starting something new. I'm Chris Baron. Usually, I launch directly into the next wave of composing and even sometimes recording while I wait for the boxes of mastered CDs to be mailed to me for the merch table, getting excited about new stuff before I even give the album I just did its fair shake. These sessions began with a clean focused slate.
I had been around Glyndon's music community since our college days at Oregon State University, where I was consistently impressed with his hustle, organization, and imagination. Plus his affable energy! We formed the band A Crab's Life together almost ten years later and recorded that one glorious album. When he started producing solo albums of his original material, I enjoyed his wild imagination and fearless arrangement style that scoffed at commercial targeting.
We both thought about what my songs might sound like through his filter, and agreed that I'd give up the hands-on control I was used to and just see what happened. The agreed-upon method was this: I'd come over with three song ideas, perform the acoustic guitar and sing a vocal track, then leave and let him at it.
We scheduled time for sessions in the midst of my 2019 touring schedule, and over 2020 using remote recording technology in the midst of the worldwide quarantine situation. Glyndon's studio was in Hillsboro, Oregon (in 2021, it moved to North Plains, Oregon).
This special edition release of five songs is a preview of what a full album might eventually be; there are nine more songs we are in various stages of arguing towards a final cut.
