Give Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) October 2017 Album: Habits   ©ChrisBaronMusic2020 I was sittin’ alone, starin’ at the San Antonio River Thinkin’ about my friends, thinkin’ about my suspicious nature I almost did it again, I almost lost another friend, I almost opened my big mouth before I thought it through, you think I’d learn by now… Addison said to me, the wind carried his words If you think that someone’s gonna take something from you… Give it to them first. I was livin’ along, like I’ll always do, probably hummin’ a tune, probably starin’ at my shoes… I am just a simple manic, I get triggered, I just panic, I need friends who recognize that I spiral out, advise me what to do… No rest for the wicked, in this live anyway I give it away So take a little bit, a part of me to love and hold you when we are apart to feel that you remain a part of the chain I was thinkin’ about worries that I carry, thoughts about being married… Its not about control, or a lack of heart and soul or any other reason as predictable, just have to make it whole… Addison said to me, the wind carries his words If you think that someone’s gonna hurt you, curse you, make worse for you, take something away from you… Give it to them first.

I Once Played Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) December 2016 Album: Relics   ©ChrisBaronMusic2017 I tried playing the game but it was no good I tired playing the game when it was all too much One more look at the door but it was no good One more swing at the floor I bet it won't hurt much Now I keep my head down I tried playing the game and was all too much to keep it all up I tried playing the game to keep us all wrapped up but it wasn't enough Cuz you're no longer around I lost a head in the sound I guess, I once played I fell in love with a girl and she was so good Then time started to turn and it was all too much for a time and a half another winter is back I guess I once played I tried playing the game but it was all too much I tried playing the game but it was all too much and it was never enough Yea it was never enough Yea it was all too much And it was never enough because I wanted too much I guess I once played

Purpose 04:33
Purpose Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) May 2016 Album: Relics   ©ChrisBaronMusic2017 It starts with a purpose With a rainy day push It moves with a breaking One day it will rush Abandons the boulders Picks up like the breeze It sings like an angel with the greatest of ease It flows with a trickle low facing the south I drink of the water She kisses my mouth We move down together With purpose and pace Trees faster and faster No time left to waste It hums with a chorus of a billion and one It breathes like I'm breathing and the best isn't done It swells like an ocean On the edge of a roar I'm blind and I'm rushing Caught up in it more, and more, and more... It pulled with a purpose It sang from the start Still sings like an angel Still sings from the heart We cut through the valley We cut through the tone It sings like an angel Home

Soul, Collisions & Signs Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Feb 2010 Album: Relics   ©ChrisBaronMusic2016 Sometimes, I can’t pick up the phone You’re on my mind But I feel alone I know you’d understand I know you’d listen in You are my oldest friend But I don’t call in Burdens left to contemplate I know you would share my weight But I never ask you to Something I’m afraid to do The heart can turn a thousand times The string is taut, the height is high The fall would surely end it all But the time is ripe for us to try Soul, collisions, and signs do me very well You and I, and both our lives intertwined and close defined Future, past, and present tense can pass between us with a glance The heart can turn a thousand times The string is taut, the height is high Future, past, and present tense can pass between us with a glance Soul, collisions, and signs do me very well

This Record Has Spun Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Nov 2011 Album: A Crab's Life   ©ChrisBaronMusic2015 Tomorrow I’m gonna fit everything in Wake me up for tomorrow… Lately I’ve just been lettin’ the record spin Long after the song is over But I know, I know Its easier said than done… This record has spun I really think that its time for this pile to go Guess I’ll just move it on over Lately I’ve been sweepin’ my piles around First one side and then the other
6.
The Chain Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Dec 2011 Album: A Crab's Life   ©ChrisBaronMusic2015 Aww yea, aww yea I give it away So take a little bit, a part of me to love and hold you when we are apart to feel that you remain a part of The Chain, burning in the rain
7.
Lover Song Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Feb 2006 Album: Light Up The Sky   ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 No need to mention how you brighten my day When I’m with you my worries, melting away I finally decide to end this affair, with holding back I found the space in your air Connected by the instant touch of my hand Running my fingers through your hair Electrified, I simply look in your eyes And I don’t care…I don’t care No need to mention how you brighten my day Don’t need to tell you how to love me your way Wrote you a message on the tablecloth When I’m with you I don’t need anything, I don’t need anything at all And I feel, and I feel Could it make my body heal? My spirits lift up at the sound of your voice You need not stop for anything Distracted from my purpose, making a choice, to which I let the freedom ring To which I let the freedom ring
8.
She Calls My Name (Forever) Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Aug 2009 Album: Light Up The Sky   ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 And it goes to show What I’ve always known That the song remains the feed the lucky and cleanse the soul I have seen the best I have seasoned the pain Even if I am worlds away she reaches and calls my name I have been to be I have lived to lead When I spin the line that speaks forever It comes to be It comes to be When I’m on the road She hears me through the noise, though I am far from home and we’re both alone I have seen the best I have seasoned the pain Even if I am worlds away she reaches and calls my name and calls my name Forever You can hear it once and its never enough And it feels like the very first breath you take after you give up

Redemption 03:08
Redemption Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) Dec 2009 Album: Light Up The Sky   ©ChrisBaronMusic2014 When I kick out to face the morning There’s a smile and a pinch of rain And a fog that hangs low to the ground below my intentions At the heart of the mystery is the pleasure of witnessing history Redemption Put my ear to the tracks, and safe to say There’s a cold out here today But the meantime has me focused on the horizon On the edge of perilous destruction is a razor-sharp salvation Redemption Around the bend a lost surprise you never thought you’d see again Redemption

On The Edge of Town Lyrics by Chris Baron (orig) May 2011 Album: Evelating (never released)   ©ChrisBaronMusic2011 I feel I jumped from the womb just runnin’ I never even saw this comin’ Born and bred to collect and ‘get done’ and takin’ on China today I can’t stop even when I’m pummeled I dig deeper into my tunnels I’m spun wheels on-a-rack disgruntled, overdrive, take me away Hello! You don’t need to worry, its easy for you livin’ on the edge of town So long! to the stresses block my way I’m on top of the world for an hour Kicked high in a dreamlike shower Forget MTV, and power everything is goin’ my way But this dynamite ticks frustrated My torrent is barely gated Freakout on the brink, I’m jaded overdrive, take me away We all march to the kick of the drummer Joe Bass pumps like a dive-bomb gunner Cry freedom to the spirit of summer Oregon take me away I dig the simple life of the country It beats floggin’ the clock in the city I wish I could get my heart beats back but, every lesson comes with a price, and with time!

about

I like a live performance the best. Studio recordings can be cool too, and I'm happy with that.

These are sessions that...were my favorites. Follow me on BandsInTown to see a live show, and take a listen. Physical copies of the individual albums might exist, hit me up. The order of songs listed is chronological from this year, backwards in time...

This collection showcases 2020 back to 2012.
There was a whole lot of story and blood before 2012. And a whole lot more to come.

In 2012, I was surprised to find myself in a rock band called Searchlights (Dusty Beats and Joe Bass!), a folk band called The Tummybuckles (@MeganDawnViola and Leo Aguirre!), a country blues duo called Huge Sally (Jake Riggs!), a 60s-00s touring cover band called Disorderly Conduct (Davis! Dusty Beats!), and a hard rock band called Idiot SCIENCE (Joe Bass and Joel Tomfohr and Keebs!)...

Then:

In 2012, Searchlights, Ryan Ferris and I finished *Evelating* but never released it. ("On The Edge of Town")
Later in 2012, *The Tummybuckles EP2* ("Black Sweater")
For 2014, more Ferris Sessions came out with *Light Up The Sky* ("Redemption", "She Calls", "Lover Song")
In 2015, I released *A Crab's Life* with Joe and Jesse Tomaino ("The Chain", "This Record Has Spun")
In 2016, I handmade the solo EP *to Keep Us Close* ("Soul, Collisions & Signs")
In 2017, two more solo EPs: *Wherever I've Been, Wherever I Go* ; and *About What You'd Expect*...the three EPs became *Relics '16-17* ("Purpose", "I Once Played")
Over 2018, I worked on Habits.
In 2019, I released *Habits* and toured.

"Give (The Chain II)" was an impromptu session with Paul Prato in late 2019.

I'm hoping to tour again in 2021. The Glyndon Sessions happened over late 2019 and on through Summer 2020, and will be released soon...
