Jake's fine now, with a cool scar since this 2008 incident.  My favorite part of the story is that the guy who actually did (foolishly) stab him ended up mailing checks to help with the medical bills, a class act amidst the ordeal.  Glyndon performed drums and organ, and Paul Prato played upright bass.  I got to sit with the banjo over several sessions; this final mix took a few months with lots of breaks in between, given my 2019 touring schedule.  Since I was practicing to learn the new instrument quite a bit, every session I came in I wanted to re-perform the banjo part...I simply had it down better with that extra month of practice on the road.  I told the producer that every time he wanted to sit back and listen to the album recording, I'd come to wherever he was with my banjo and play that part better, live.  Glyndon asked me to stop bringing my banjo over.  The lyrics are time-sensitive.
